Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in communication with the league office.

The team did not mention the player by name in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the first six games of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, he concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
